Fox Newsletter

Welcome

Finally we’ve had a weekend of decent weather, giving us the perfect opportunity to get on the bank and catch a few fish (hopefully using loads of Fox gear!).

Fox consultant and angling star Mick Brown has certainly been enjoying recent good sport. Whilst out testing some new Fox reels he banked his biggest ever UK catfish – a monster weighing over 69lb.

Match star Mark Pollard wasn’t so lucky testing the new Fox Match seatbox. During the famous Wychavon Angling Festival on the River Avon he banked just 6oz of fish over two days of matches. You can read about both Mick and Polly’s sessions by visiting the Fox Blog.

Just like our product development, we’re always looking at improving things at Fox, and our newsletter is no different. If you have any comments – good or bad – email me at scole@foxnewsletter.com

If you’re wondering who on earth I am, my name is Steve Cole and I have recently started work at Fox as media and publicity manager. So, among other projects I’ll be responsible for bringing you a new newsletter every two weeks.

Tight lines

Mick Brown with carp catchMatch carping by Mark Pollard
With summer almost gone (did it ever arrive?!) start to think about reducing your feed. Keep your feed tight by using Fox Match Toss Pots and always wet your pellets. Carp can digest soft, damped feed pellets easier than hard pellets and will therefore stay feeding in your peg for longer!

Carping with a difference by Mick Brown
Fancy trying something different? Use a piece of fish on one of your rigs. Yes it really works. It's a natural progression from fish-based boilies and pellets - the real thing! Feed with pellets and boilies and put a fish section on the hook. About a 15-20 mm long chunk on a hair. My best this season on this tactic is 34 lbs 8 oz on three chunks of lamprey! They like mackerel and herring too!

Mick Brown Fox PredatorHere’s a sneak preview into some of the major products we’re currently working on. The long awaited launch of our new match box is getting nearer. We are hoping for a pre-Christmas launch and judging by the sample we have sitting in the office, it will undoubtedly be a firm favourite with match anglers across Europe.

The same goes for a top-secret new carp reel which is in development. Again, we’re working like mad for a launch just before Christmas, but we can ensure you that this is something special. I really have been sworn to secrecy, so I’m afraid I can’t say any more.

However, I can reveal more about the new 2008 Predator Catalogue which we’re currently putting the finishing touches to. The 100-page guide, showcasing our complete Predator range, has been put together with the help of Mick Brown and Dave Kelbrick. Expect new rods, luggage, accessories, lures…the list is endless. The brochure should be printed by the end of September.

Deputy editor and respected international sea caster, Roger Mortimore, was very impressed with the rod during a recent testing session. He was particularly pleased with the huge distances he managed to achieve with the cast.
