Step 1
Here are all of the quality items of terminal tackle you will require to tie Steve’s pop-up rig.

Step 2
Cut 10ins of Coretex and attach it to your hook with a knotless knot leaving a Hair like so.

Step 3
Next, you will need to thread an Oval Rig Ring onto the Hair, as illustrated above.

Step 4
Steve then ties a simple overhand knot in the Hair about ½cm from the end, like so.

Step 5
Cut a 1.5cm length of shrink tube and then thread it onto the hooklink but not over the eye yet.

Step 6
Take the Hair and pass it up inside the shrink tube as Steve illustrates in the above picture.

Step 7
Create a small D like so and then position the shrink tube over the eye of the hook, just like this.

Step 8
Hold the rig over a steaming kettle and carefully shrink the tubing down to secure the D in place.

Step 9
The overhand knot is now secured inside the shrink tube and will prevent the D from losing its shape.

Step 10
A small figure-of-eight loop is then tied in the end of the rig for use with quick change devices.

Step 11
Add a small blob of Hi-SG putty to the centre of the rig to help keep it pinned down to the lakebed.

Step 12
Take your favoured pop-up and tie it onto the Oval Rig Ring with some bait floss.

Step 13
Trim up the tag ends and then carefully blob them with a lighter and your bait will be secured.

Step 14
You will then need to place a No.1 split shot on the exposed braid just below the shrink tube.

Step 15
You should now have created a pop-up rig that looks just like this little beauty!
